Meet the Staff
John Hargreaves
John is the heart of JD's: he and his wife Ruth, through hard work and labour of love, have built JD Cycles from his father's tiny workshop business into their working dream. With his years of experience, John heads up the most technical aspects of the business, from building elite competition bicycles to advising on compatibility issues and more complex sales decisions.
Ruth Hargreaves
Ruth devotes her time to dealing with tandem enquiries and custom build ups. Ruth‘s knowledge of tandems is considerable and she is very passionate about promoting tandeming in the UK.
Jamie Shuttleworth
Jamie is one of the partners here at JD Cycles and has been part of the team since he was 15 years old. You will no doubt be greeted by Jamie and his trusty sidekick Lily the wonder dog when you arrive at the shop. Jamie is a keen mountain biker and currently rides a Commencal Meta 5 Team Carbon issue full suspension mountain bike.
Mitchell Briggs
Mitch has taken on the mail order side of the business as well as a managerial role in JD's operations. Mitchell is also the lead in tailored bikes. So if you want that perfect bike building Mitchell will help you design it from the frame up.
James Myers
James is our Service Center Manager, having been with the JD's team since he was 14 years old. He is an expert in mountain bike custom-builds and is an excellent suspension and disk brake technician.
Barney Rhodes
Barney is one of our part time weekend staff. Barney is into his Mountain Biking and rides a Commencal Combi (though not an off the peg model).
Tony Monksfield
Tony heads up the ordering and does lots of behind the scenes duties here at the shop. He is also a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge; anything you need to know, Tony is probably the one to ask!
Joe Bradley
Joe is our tandem specialist mechanic. Joe’s record build week was 6 tandems in one week! - which he is especially proud of. It must have been all the chocolate and coffee!
Marek Szczeplek
Marek is a full time mechanic in our Service Centre. He is teaching the staff to speak Polish...all the best words, of course.
Mark Holloway
Mark is our newest member of the sales team. Mark can usually be found behind the sales desk studying the latest catelogue of bikes that we sell. When he's not working in JD's Mark is studying to become a optomertrist, and for leisure he is training for the London 2010 Triathlon olympic distance.......so no more pies for Mark this year!
Sam Needham
Sam is a downhill nut. He helps us out with anything and everything we need on Sundays. Sam is a gifted salad and sandwich maker; the staff are grateful to be so well- (and healthily!) fed when he's around.
